Business Administration Major

General Education And Institutional Requirements (46-47 Semester Hours)

One course in each of two disciplines in arts and humanities (6 Semester Hours)

Two science courses, at least one of which shall be a laboratory course (7-8 Semester Hours)

  • ____ ___ Science Elective II 3/4 Credits

Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Physical Science Courses

One course in mathematics at or above the level of college algebra (3 Semester Hours)

Two courses in English composition (6 Semester Hours)

One course in each of two disciplines in social and behavioral sciences (6 Semester Hours)

Free General Education Electives (9 Semester Hours)


*Students who satisfied Principles of Macro/Microeconomics are encouraged to take COMM 103, ENGL 211, 212, 213 or MATH 141, 215)

One course in technology (3 Semester Hours)

Institutional Requirements (6 Semester Hours)


Students are encouraged to take SUMMER courses and attend MINI-SEMESTER in order to have a manageable semester load.

In keeping with COMAR, the College of Business reserves the right to specify suitable general education courses for all majors.


BUAD 100 (Business Mathematics) is a prerequisite for ACCT 211 (Principles of Accounting) and ACCT 211 is a prerequisite for ACCT 212.

*Not required for Accounting majors

** Not required for Accounting Majors, Accounting majors are required to take PHIL 305, Ethics and Public Policy

***Not applicable to BUIS majors

**** Accounting students must take BUAD 351 (Business Law II), instead of BUIS 360.

* College of Business electives are 300-400 level courses selected from ACCT, BUAD, BUIS, ECON, FINA, MGMT, or MKTG. (BUIS 458-Health Informatics - is recommended as the College of Business elective course for students int he Business Information concentration).

A maximum of 6 semester hours of calculus and computer languages courses may be used as College of Business Electives.
