ENGL 513 - Special Topics in Film Studies

This course examines cinematic depictions of citizenship, race, class, crime and punishment, and sociopolitical process in US society. Students will learn how films influence and reflect social perceptions and relations and how they shape and are shaped by our moral, cultural, and aethetic values and appetites,. Additionally, course participants will investigate American film as a potent art form in the world. This course will advance the thinking of those pursuing careers in the arts, public and media relations, politics, law, psychology, social advocacy, and education.
