EDUC 522 - Culturally Responsive Knowledge, Pedagogy, Discourse and Practices

This course explores theories, methods, and procedures underlying culturally responsive teaching and learning practices in addition to the interrelationships among attitude and beliefs with practices and outcomes through a focus on the historical, sociological, and philosophical foundations of education. This course is designed to introduce the elements of culturally responsive pedagogy and how to use these elements to address the instructional needs of the diverse student population. It examines researched and evidenced based practices within the context of contemporary, 21st century standards and practices.
