PHLN 510 - Introduction to Philanthropy

3 Credits (Every semester)
Prerequisite(s): PHLN 501: Writing for Social Impact. This survey course focuses on the nonprofit and philanthropic sector, research on giving and voluntary trends, giving behaviors across racial and ethnic groups and gender, and understanding the nature of nonprofits and how they are organized. Students will engage with theories of philanthropy and the nonprofit sector to learn how philanthropic organizations, nonprofit organizations, corporations, governments, and philanthropists interact and engage in civic society.
