COSC 731 - Principles of Data Mining



3 Credits (Fall only)
Prerequisite(s): COSC 528.  The goal of this course is to present fundamental concepts and algorithms for those learning data mining for the first time. This course introduces and studies the concepts, issues, tasks and techniques of data mining. We will review and examine the present techniques and the theories behind them and explore new and improved techniques for real world data mining applications. Topics include data preparation, association rules, classification, clustering, scalability, time-series analysis and prediction, data mining applications etc.
