HSAM 490 - Health Services Administration Internship II

3 Credits

(Every Fall semester)
Prerequisite(s): HSAM 308, HSAM 310, HSAM 480, NURS 390 and IDIS 460.  Internship II provides a hands-on educational and clinical experience with the achievement of key competencies of skills checkoff of key duties and responsibilities of the Health Services Administration. The internship provides the practical experience needed to obtain an entry-level job after graduation and requires a time commitment in the field. Health Services Administration student internships take place in a healthcare setting, where students can gain the experience they need to succeed in their future careers. Potential internship settings include hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and doctor’s offices. Students’ nursing schools help place them in an internship environment that suits their academic needs and career goals. These students have the opportunity to work in different specialties, so they may find their area of Health Services Administration that they may prefer. The knowledge and practice plus the professional connections students can gain in the process are significant in transitioning from the academic world to the workforce after graduation.
