2D Studio
Two-dimensional art consists of paintings, drawings, and printmaking, which differ from each other primarily in the technique of their execution. Students following this track will focus on critical thinking, creative problem solving, and art production with an emphasis on subject matter, visual communication, and effective use of the elements and principles of design to create images on a two-dimensional plane.

3D Studio
The art or practice of shaping figures or designs in the round or in relief, as by chiseling marble, modeling clay, or casting in metal. Students following this track will focus on critical thinking, creative problem solving and art production with an emphasis on subject matter, visual communication, and their understanding of three-dimensional structure, the process of construction, and effective use of the elements and principles of design to create three-dimensional objects in sculptural and ceramic media.

Integrated Studios
Students following the Integrated Studios track will comprise of those who are interested in Mixed Media and Multimedia Art, but whose primary art form is of a non-digital nature. Those who are primarily interested in digital art would follow the Digital Media Arts concentration in the B.S. VCDMA Program. In Integrated Studios students will focus on art created using more than one medium, which may incorporate the merging of painting and sculpture, found objects, collage, soft sculpture, and- in some cases- combine these works with sound art, moving images, or other digital media. Through critical thinking, creative problem solving, an understanding of spatial relationships, and the engagement of senses other than sight (hearing, touch, smell) students will create works of art that may take the form of installations and/or be interactive or kinetic.
Students in Integrated Studios must take 9 credit hours of 200 level 2D, 3D, or Photography studio courses. VCDMA studio courses may be taken for this track by advisement. They will consult with their faculty advisor when they select this track and agree to a plan of study, which addresses their creative and academic goals.

Photography
Students following the Photography track will study fine art photography, photojournalism and commercial photography. Fine art photography is photography created in keeping with the artist’s creative vision; photojournalism focuses on telling the story of an event or location using photography as the primary medium; and commercial photography is primarily used in advertising and selling goods or services.
