Department of Counseling and Psychological Studies

The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Clinical Pastoral Counseling may be earned concurrently with the M.A. in Mental Health Counseling, Counseling Psychology, or M.Ed. in School Counseling, or may be obtained after earning a master’s degree. This certificate equips students to integrate spiritual and religious frameworks with counseling practices, addressing mental health concerns within churches, religious organizations, and culturally diverse communities. Students who combine a counseling degree with this certificate enhance their ability to provide holistic, faith-informed mental health services that promote resilience, emotional wellness, and spiritual growth.

The certificate in Clinical Pastoral Counseling consists of 30 graduate semester credits.

Note

The Internship in Pastoral Counseling (PSYC 840) can be taken after the completion of at least 21 credits of coursework within the certificate program.
