EDAD 842 - Leadership and Entrepreneurship

3 Credits (Summer)
Prerequisite(s): None. The course demonstrates the relevance of entrepreneurship and leadership in organizations and analyses how it can be integrated into more familiar approaches of leadership in education settings. Many organizations have to react to new opportunities and have to develop mechanisms to develop new products and services and respond to change. Many of these new lines of value arise from the activities of entrepreneurs within the organization or through the vision of entrepreneurial leaders. New organizations often spin-out of large organizations. How larger firms can encourage innovation and entrepreneurship, and yet retain control, remains a major challenge. Entrepreneurial approaches in education are often met with funding challenges and resistance to change leaving many school systems and IHE’s lagging, underpreparing students and perpetuating mediocrity.
