CRJU 408 - Current Issues in Corrections

When Offered (Fall, Summer)
This course explores major issues facing corrections today by analyzing the social context in which punishment occurs. Topics include but are not limited to: prison violence, gangs, institutional crowding, societal change and its impact on corrections, inmate subcultures, female offenders, juvenile offenders, rehabilitation and treatment needs of offenders, correctional privatization, and the death penalty.

Prerequisite(s): CRJU 201, CRJU 202, CRJU 203.
