CRJU 414 - Undergraduate Learning Assistant (ULA) Criminal Justice Teaching and Mentorship Experience3 Credits
Fall, Spring, Summer, Mini Prerequisite(s): SOCI 101, CRJU 201, CRJU 202, CRJU 203, Junior or Senior status and Departmental Approval. This course combines the theories of leadership, group dynamics, and effective communication with the field experience of being a peer tutor and mentor. As part of the experience, junior and senior-level criminal justice majors will work with students in the CRJU 201 Introduction to Criminal Justice, CRJU 202 American Judicial System, and CRJU 203 American Corrections courses as peer mentors and tutors while also learning effective classroom management. The knowledge and skills obtained in this track will make students more competitive for graduate school admission, as well as for graduate teaching assistantships. Lecture
