ART 430 - Ceramics Technology3 Credits
When Offered (Spring Only) This course examines the firing process from bisque to glaze with an advanced use of equipment to produce ceramic sculpture. Students manage gas kiln firings and participate in and prepare for raku, pit, or sagar firings. Emphasis is placed on kiln stacking and firing procedures with a concentration on reduction atmosphere firings, kilns and kiln construction, oxidation firing, kiln maintenance and repair, kiln furniture, and heat measuring devices and safety equipment.
Prerequisite(s): ART 201, ART 202, and ART 332.
