HSAM 308 - Ethics in Healthcare

3 Credits

(Every Fall semester)
This course will explore and analyze contemporary health care situations in terms of ethical dimensions. Topics will include patient-care giver relationships, high-tech medicine, ICU dilemmas, medical experimentation and confidentiality of patient medical records, AIDS and ethics, death and dying, and the issues of an aging population. Genetic research and its application to patient care will also be explored. Additionally, issues around contracts and reimbursement in terms of ethical practices and will be addressed.
