JAPN 101 - Introduction to Japanese Language & Culture I

This course offers an introduction to Japanese language and culture. It is designed for students who have had little or no experience learning Japanese. The goal of this course is to introduce the four basic skills of language fluency in modern Japanese: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The class complements language acquisition skills with lessons on Japanese historical traditions and culture as well as the ways in which Japanese and African American pop culture influence one another.
