Business Administration Major


General Education and Institutional Requirements (46-47 Credits)


Arts and Humanities (6 credits)


One course in each of two disciplines in arts and humanities 

Science (7-8 credits)


Two science courses, at least one of which shall be a laboratory course

Discipline/Courses

Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Physical Science courses. 

One course in mathematics(3 Credits)


One course in mathematics is required at or above the level of pre-calculus (3 Semester Hours). MATH 125 - College Algebra or other 100 - level math courses are not accepted for the fulfillment of this requirement but can serve as a general education free elective.

English Composition (6 credits)


Two courses in English Composition

Social and Behavioral Sciences (6 credits)


One course in each of two disciplines 

Elective note:

*Students should choose the Econ course that that was not taken to satisfy the Social and Behavioral Science category above to count towards this Elective requirement. 

 

Technology (3 credits)


Notes


  • COB students require a minimum letter grade of a C to pass these courses: BUIS 260, ENGL 101, ENGL 102, ECON 211, ECON 212, MATH 141 or higher. A letter grade of a C or above is required for all business core and concentration courses. A CGPA of at least 3.5 qualifies the student for the Dean’s List. At least 30 upper-level Business credits at Bowie State University are required for a B.S. degree in Business Administration.
  • Students are encouraged to take SUMMER courses and attend MINI-SEMESTER in order to have a manageable semester load.
  • In keeping with COMAR, the College of Business reserves the right to specify suitable general education courses for all majors.
  • Students must complete 3 credits hours of College of Business elective at the 300-400 level from the following subject areas: ACCT, BUAD, BUIS, DANL, PHIS, PHIT, ECON, FINA, MGMT OR MKTG. BUIS 400 - Special Topics in Info Systems or BUIS 458 - Health Informatics, is recommended.
  • For transfer students, MATH 155 can be used for ECON 351 and COSC 110 can be used for BUIS 260.
