ENGL 302 - British Literature II3 Credits
(Spring) Prerequisite(s): ENGL 102 and ENGL 236. A survey of English literature from about 1780 to the present, this course includes Romantic poets who are “mad, bad, and dangerous to know,” Victorian aesthetes and dandies, and Modernist rebels against tradition. Students will discover the literature in its cultural context and in relation to other modes of expression, including film, painting, and music. Authors such as Blake, Byron, the Shelleys, Keats, Tennyson, the Brownings, Yeats, Woolf, Joyce, Achebe, McKay, Walcott, Heaney, and Rushdie will be featured.
