ENGL 326 - Literature of the Caribbean3 Credits
(Alternate Fall Semesters) Prerequisite(s): ENGL 102. Possible topics of this survey of 20th- and 21st-century Caribbean literature and writers include: resistance to colonialism and developing national consciousness; celebrations of Caribbean culture, Creole, and Caribbean nation language; postcolonial culture; recognition of once taboo forms of Caribbean literary expression and experimental poetry; folklore and nature. Students will read novels, short fiction, poetry, drama, and nonfiction as they learn about the writing that characterizes the region.
