NURS 415 - Nursing Care of the Child and Family3 Credits
(Fall, Spring) Prerequisite(s): Completion of NURS 380/381, NURS 385/386, NURS 400, SOWK 300 with a grade of “C” or better. This course provides the student with the knowledge and skills required for the provision of therapeutic and culturally congruent nursing care, to children and their families. Course content includes growth and development of the child and adolescent, the changing family structure and its impact on the child. Students will examine the social, economic, political and environmental factors affecting health promotion and illness prevention. Issues surrounding culture, religion, legal considerations, and ethics are discussed. Relevant nursing research and evidence-based interventions are presented Lecture
